I hear "the structure of world education," as a structure reflecting the values and assumptions of its makers, In all ages.
ReplyDeleteThe post-industrial, post-Christian First World structure in which we live lacks symbolic awareness because we value our self-centered assumptions: the sun rises and sets on our enterprises, we control both nature and culture, we create our reality.
In such a structure, "the world" remains something strictly material that we can manipulate, like moving books around from one set of shelves to another.
Wouldn't that be great.......to boil down the education to a point where ANYWHERE in the world, the same lesson could be taught. Void of political influence, religious bias, and school system mandates. Focusing on this symbolism that surrounds us, but so few can see.
